Hello
I have been asked this question again and have found a few images, they all show the same but I think this is the clearest. See both pics below - print it.
**I think ALL GYMS should have HR TARGET this on their walls!
Standard Formula:
220 - AGE = Max Heart Rate (HR). You do not want to go above Max HR!
Target HR with exercise
Max HR x 65% = Minimal HR goal for exercise
Max HR x 85% = Max HR goal for exercise.
You want to exercise with a HR between 65-85% exertion of max HR, per your age.

How Healthy is my heart?
How fast does your HR drop after activity?
**The Healthier you are- the faster your HR will drop back to resting zone/ normal range for you. This is an indication of your cardiovascular health.
You are in EXCELLENT health and likely an athlete if you can drop your HR by 30-60 seconds per minute.
You are in GREAT shape if you can recover and drop your HR by 15-25 bpm within the first minute.
You can use some IMPROVEMENT if your HR stays high without dropping 15+ bpm after 1 minute.
The Cooper Test
This is a 12 minute run, developed by Kenneth Cooper, ME in 1968 to measure aerobic fitness still used today.
Cooper K. A Means of Assessing Maximal Oxygen Intake Correlation Between Field and Treadmill Testing. Journal of American Medical Association. 1968;203(3):201-204. doi:10.1001/jama.1968.03140030033008
Use a watch or treadmill to measure your distance in miles after 12 minutes of running. Then use the chart below to see where you are today.
